If it’s one thing I’ve learned during the #BeerFreeFor115 challenge, it’s that I have many vices. Take yesterday, for example. I had a huge craving for a hamburger (personally, I blame Nashville Kat and her story about Dierks Bentley’s latest Whiskey Row restaurants) so I went for lunch at my favourite spot. As you can see, there’s a glass of water there…but nothing else that does my Buddha Belly any good.

My mother also baked a plate of cookies (which I devoured) and, when attending the Ayr Centennials home opener last night, I just had to eat an official team donut. I may be beer free but it seems I’m definitely not burger and baking free. Baby steps, I suppose.

How ’bout the other guys? Well, we’re all working on it. Chad was at the Aldean show last night in Toronto and said he was going to drink vodka instead of beer. But he also admitted in an email update that he — like me — needs to find some time to exercise: “No beer for me at this point and it appears to be getting easier to say No (everyone knows of the Beer Free mission). Weight goes up and down every day, but this will be a good challenge to see if it is beer that is causing the Belly or just too many snacks with no exercise…the walking needs to begin for me!”

And Shawn says: “Going well so far NO Beer, but had a 2 Rum and Cokes to drown my sorrows of a bad Football Pool week lol. I have been off my workout routine as well but getting back at it. Did 50 Front Squats and 100 GHD Situps last night. Google GHD Sit Up and you will feel my pain.”

Nice work, men! We’re down to 97 days!!

On the “Name That Beer” front, the suggestions have been rolling in. So far, we have:

1) Farwell’s Festive Brew

2) Farwell’s No Buddha Belly Brew

3) The Brew-dah

4) Cranky Craft

5) Farewell to Sobriety

6) Articulate Ale

7) Lexicon Lager

8) Syntax Stout

9) Pen “ale” timate

Keep the suggestions coming…and stay strong on the Beer Free front!

Yours in beerlessness,

Farwell
