Glenn-Frey

The music world lost another legend yesterday with the passing of Eagles co-founder Glenn Frey. He was 67. As you can imagine, tributes have been pouring in from far and wide, including the country community. But nobody has mentioned my favourite Glenn Frey song yet!

Granted, I’ve always been an odd duck. But my favourite Glenn Frey song (outside The Eagles catalogue) is “You Belong To The City.” Maybe I watched a little too much Miami Vice as a kid but the sax that starts the song is still brilliantly haunting. Anyway, I’m sure everyone has a favourite from Frey, be it a solo project or, more likely, something he did with The Eagles. What you can’t question is his contribution to and influence on country music.

So it should come as no surprise that country stars are sharing their memories of Frey and paying tribute to him. Check out some of those memories here, including Keith Urban’s awesome version of “Take It Easy.”  Sidenote…I also love the piano. Maybe even more than I loved Miami Vice as a kid. Maybe..

RIP, Glenn.
