After a ton of online speculation, a medical examiner has ruled Tom Petty’s death an accidental overdose.

From Rolling Stone Magazine:

(Tom Petty) had taken several pain medications, including Fentanyl, oxycodone and generic Xanax. Other medications included generic Restoril (a sleep aid) and generic Celexa (which treats depression

The statement from the Los Angeles County coroner’s office said that Tom passed away from “multi-system organ failure” due to resuscitated cardiopulmonary arrest due to mixed drug toxicity.

A TV crew from the new reality series Staten Island Hustle were arrested at Newark Liberty International Airport for trying to smuggle in a fake bomb. Allegedly, the crew were trying to create a scene by testing the facilities security system. Nine suspects were arrested after they admitted planting the realistic-bomb. SMH.

Former NFL players are banding together under a new initiative that would prevent children under the age of 14 from playing tackle football.

Pro football Hall of Famers Nick Buoniconti and Harry Carson joined four-time Pro Bowl linebacker Phil Villapiano and researchers from Boston University to make the announcement. They’re working with the Concussion Legacy Foundation to support a new parent education initiative, Flag Football Under 14, that pushes for no tackle football until the age of 14.

Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) is a progressive degenerative disease of the brain found in people with a history of repetitive brain trauma, such as taking repeated hits in football.

Remember Party of Five? The show ran from 1994 – 2000? It followed the five Salinger kids who were left to raise themselves after their parents were killed in a tragic drunk driving accident. Well, it turns out the show is getting a reboot, this time with an immigration twist.

Freeform, a subsidiary of Disney, announced on Thursday that a pilot is being written by the series’ original creators, but focusing on a new family and a very different set of issues. The reboot will focus on the five children in the Buendias family as they try to navigate life after their parents are deported back to their native Mexico.
