It’s National Sibling Day!

Tributes continue on a global scale for the families and victims of the Humboldt Broncos after a fatal crash from the weekend killed 15 of the 29 passengers on board a bus to a semifinal playoff game. Most notably, the hashtag #sticksout has gone viral online, with many families around the world putting their hockey sticks out in solidarity.

This was received from the Canadian Forces in Iraq today:

More than a 1000 Dachshunds showed up in Manchester’s Heaton Park for a massive wiener dog walk!

Some of the adorable pooches were sporting hot dog costumes, and the event benefited two charities.

From Time:

The walk brought 1,239 wiener dogs together, making it their largest meet-up yet and benefitted Dedicated to Dachshunds with IVDD, a charity that supports dogs who need help due to abnormal intervertebral discs as well as the Red Foundation, a charity that offers emergency rescue and fostering services for dachshunds.

And what’s in a hot pepper?

Those inspired to give hot pepper eating a contests a go, listen up! One dude wound up in hospital after eating the world’s hottest hot pepper – the Carolina Reaper.

After ingesting the entire pepper, he began to dry heave, which is not uncommon. But it worsened from there with neck and head pains, commonly referred to as “thunderclap” headaches. He then went to hospital.

From the New York Times:

Scans of his head and neck showed the kind of constriction in some arteries that can cause intense headaches … The scientific term for this temporary narrowing of arteries is reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome.

The Reaper has been measured at more than two million Scoville heat units, the accepted scale for how hot peppers are. Measurements vary, but a really hot habanero might come in at 500,000 Scoville units.

As Paris Hilton would say: that’s hot.

Care 🙂
