After a long winter, spring is finally here! Snow is melting, sun is shining, and plants are finally starting to bloom! Hearing birds chirp outside your window, is one of the many obvious signs spring has arrived.  We want to give you a few ideas so birds will stick around your yard – with a fun easy DIY project. Make your own bird feeder, plus it’s a fun easy craft for kids.

Many people recommend peanut butter as a way for the bird feed to ‘stick’ to their DIY feeder. It’s suggested to just stay away from any human food altogether & use regular bird seed. Here are a few different options to stay away from human food.

Teacup and saucer bird feeder

What you need…

  • Teacup + saucer (check out the thrift store for a unique find)
  • Masking tape
  • Glue (a strong waterproof adhesive is recommended)
  • Rope or twine
  • Bird seed

Directions…

  1. Place a line of glue down the side of the teacup – opposite side of the handle. You can use a piece of masking tape as a guide.
  2. Place the glued side of the teacup on the saucer with the handle facing up.
  3. Use the masking tape to hold the teacup in place for the glue to set. One strip of tape can go over the handle and sides of the saucer, the second piece of tape will hold the front of the teacup in place.
  4. Wait for the glue to set.
  5. Add bird feed!
