Every 6 days, a woman in Canada is killed by her intimate partner.

As someone who considers herself a champion for women and girls, that statistic is shocking to me, but it’s true.

This week I’ve embarked on one of the most important roles of my life. I’m honoured to hold a new position on the Women’s Crisis Services of Waterloo Region’s Board of Directors.

Through my role in the media, I’ve spent the last several years of my career providing a platform for women moving beyond violence, and I’m looking forward to levelling up my community involvement and really helping to make a difference in the lives of women and children experiencing domestic violence.

The vision of WCSWR is a community free from violence and abuse in any of its forms. EVERYONE deserves this.

If you’re in the Waterloo Region, please join us on Saturday November 18th for the “Voices Empower: Walk to Break the Silence” in recognition of Woman Abuse Prevention Month. https://wcswr.org/voices-empower-2023/

At any given moment you have the power to say “this is NOT how the story is going to end.” – Christine Mason Miller

Together we can break the silence and bring a voice to domestic violence.
