I have had the pleasure of listening to Florida Georgia Line’s newest album Dig Your Roots for the last few weeks…and my unspoken words need to be written!

The excitement…the build up…and the anticipation of Florida Georgia Line’s newest album Dig Your Roots could never be matched. They had teased us for months with the release of their single H.O.L.Y and then the more recently released single May We All feat Tim Mcgraw! But when it was released…the world got to experience a new Florida Georgia Line…might I say a little more grown up? They sing about their family life, teach us how to love, how to be humble about every breath, and even some tear jerkers like While He’s Still Around!

Opening up the album is a song called Smooth. A sound more familiar to The Boys, but with a minor touch of down south. You here crickets and frogs being used, not as background noise, but as a part of the song! The track makes you feel at home and just like the taste of their Whiskey Old Camp this track is SMOOOOOOOOTH!

Then we move on to the next song called Dig Your Roots, the title of the album. We hear Brian Kelley’s voice a lot more on this track…and even the album! We see B.K. singing all of Lifer, Island, Heatwave, and While He’s Still Around (a song about father’s). I think everyone is with me when I say “BK Where have you been bro!” He brings a new soul-tone to the album and we are loving it!

The collaborations with Ziggy Marley, (Son of Reggae legend Bob Marley) and Life Is A Honey Moon is a very reggae sounding addition to the album, Tim McGraw May We All, and The Backstreet Boys singing God, Your Mama, and Me are nothing short of amazing! Although Ziggy and The Backstreet Boys seem like an odd choice…after listening to the whole album I tell you they are the perfect fit to the FGL puzzle!

A song called Grow Old has become a fan favourite. Tyler Hubbard had written and produced that in time for his wedding where him and his wife had their first dance to this track. AND NOW so many people have been using it at their weddings…and the album hasn’t been out for two weeks! Talk about last minute changes!

“This is a man’s album” FGL quoted! They believe that the emotions and love they poured into this album reflect them growing up and becoming Family Men! Talking about their wives, family, and talking about babies, THE MEN of Florida Georgia Line have Dug Up Their Roots for us. The evolution of Florida Georgia Line is amazing and maybe our ROOTS will grow with them!
